So I was watching Grey's Last night thinking that it was all getting out of hand. Cristina is loosing it, Meridith has never had it together but at least she isn't as whiny as she used to be, Alex's girl Rebecca is crazy. Then I came across this from one of my Moms boards about the show. Kind of plays into all of our day to day lives.
“Don’t wonder why people go crazy. Wonder why they don’t. In the face of all we can lose in a day, in an instant, wonder what the hell it is that makes us hold it together.”
Well I think that at any point we can all go crazy. Just look at we try to fit into one day, one week and then into one year. How could we not. I've been thinking a lot about family lately. It's been hard not to with everything going on. I think that our families are the reasons that we aren't crazy. Don't get me wrong, family does cause you to be crazy at times. But aren't they the reason why you DON'T loose it? There are days when I just want to get in the car and run away. I'm not going to do it though. And why not? Because of my family. I love them all so much and the thought of never seeing them again just kills me on the inside. Instead of loosing it, I just take some time away from everyone and have a little me time. Do I wish it could happen more? Yes. Do I wish that it could be longer? Yes.
Reece tells us at least once a day that she wants to be alone. My response, "Good luck!" Probably not my best parenting moment of the day but I'm not perfect. But I do understand her desire to just be left alone. No one calling your name and no one pulling on you. It can make you crazy. Instead, Reece and I need to learn that family is what keeps you sane, loved, and a whole person. I am grateful and thankful for all of family and friends in my life. You are what keeps me from going crazy.
Sorry for being a little sappy. I happens when I feel a little crazy.

Too much pink
Hang in there while I change up the blog a little. I have decided that there is far too much pink in my life so I am changing it up some. We may undergo more changes as this process evolves.

Hi, my name is Christine
Hi, my name is Christine and I am addicted ... to Etsy. It is this fabulous site that someone had shown me months ago. I am addicted to it every time I sit down on the computer. It is a bunch of people, mainly moms, that have these great craft projects and products. I can literally search day and night. Good thing I don't have a secret checking account because I would have a million little gifts for the girls, my family, and my friends. I would be giving the best gifts out there. I will continue to dream and try to recreate on my own. I am working on 2 projects that were inspired by Etsy and will post pictures later if they are presentable. There is one lady that just taunts me with her fabric collection and how she has everything set-up. I am dreaming of the day when the girls are both at school, the maid has come and cleaned the house, done the laundry, dinner is prepared and I can sit in my project room and work undisturbed for 6 hours. Oh and all of the needed supplies are there waiting on me to get going. For now, I will take my 15 minutes per hour between cleaning noses and changing diapers, getting snacks and play. My projects will take 1 weeks verses one day. And I am okay with that.

Before and After
The kitchen is done!!! Chad just needs to run the outside part of the vent a hood but as far as I cam concerned it is done. He did a great job on the tile and lighting. We changed from standard 4x4 tiles to the subway 1x2 tumbled stone. And from on florescent light to 5 cans, a light over the island and 3 pendants over the bar. I think we picked a great color and the hardware completes the look. Here are the before pictures.
And the after!!!
Reece's princess room will be done this coming weekend. Then we will move on to the next project, and the next, and the next.
I had a great Mother's Day. I did very little. The four of us had lunch at Saltgrass Steakhouse and then did a little shopping for some new plants. Addie took a nice long nap. I laid in bed and watched TV and surfed the internet. Chad and Reece made a new flower bed in the back yard. We had a light dinner and all went to bed. It has a nice break from our normal weekend days of how much can we get done in a day. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.

Dear God...
Reece has been praying at the dinner table since she started school. She has prayed the same thing until recently. We made a deal with her a couple months ago that if she stopped sucking her thumb, she would get a princess room. We were out and bought her bedding but she knows that she can't have it yet. Well...she her new prayer is:
Dear God, Thank you for my princess room and my family. Amen
She is getting the room for her birthday. Picture will come out in a couple of weeks.

I can keep up

Let's start with a quick weekend wrap-up. Chad finished the TILE!!!! Mostly. It has been grouted and now just needs to be sealed. I will update the kitchen photos with before and after when the kitchen is a little more put together. He is working on my vent a hood.. I have been cooking without a light for about 3 weeks. He thinks that it won't take long to a least get the inside work done so that I have light again.
Saturday was our normal run around crazy day. That evening, everyone gathered to celebrate Mitzi's birthday. Layne was the primary chef and everything turned out well. Chad did the grilling. Jessica made a great homemade cheesecake. Mitzi's parents were in town and joined us as well as Sabrina, Scott, Ben and Jessica. The girls had a great time playing with everyone. They slept in until 9am!!!
So that brings us to today. Reece, Addison, and I had breakfast at school today. It was muffins with mom day. There was a cute little place mat that had some fill in the blank things about their mom. Reece's answers are in pink.
- My mom's name is Mommy.
- I like it when she cooks.
- She is the best when she cooks broccoli soup. (pasta and greens)
- I like her the most because she is my friend.
- I make her smile when I give her a gift. (she will wrap up anything and give it as a gift)
Addison is a mess. I finally had to cut about a inch of her hair last night. I have to admit that I was embarrassed by the fact that the girl was sporting a mullet. It was stringy and just in poor taste. It sits nicely now and does not matte up as badly when she is napping. The last photos in the group are from today. You can check out my skills. She is trying so hard to keep up with Reece and all that she does. The little girl is a dare devil. She will climb on anything (I think just to be a big girl) and that includes the tables and any chair. The last pictures you will see her using a pillow just to get that added inch to get onto the couch. Addison tried to use the oven handle this evening as a hanging monkey bar. I saw it all in slow motion and could not get to her fast enough to stop her. She hung on all the way to the floor as she hit her head on the island on the way down. She wasn't hurt and the oven wasn't on. I guess we are looking for a oven lock this week.

Drama, is this what little girls are all about?
One of my favorite shows is Jon & Kate plus 8. It's on TLC and if you haven't seen it, you really need to. It is a family of twins and sextuplets, hence the 8 kids, and she is a SAHM while he has an IT job. One of the best moments is when Kate is talking about Maddie, one of the twin girls. Kate was explaining how Maddie is very dramatic all of the time and desires to be the center of attention. Jon said that Maddie was just like Kate. Kate responded with "I don't do or say things to be dramatic, I REALLY feel that way" Jon- "Well, maybe Maddie REALLY feels that way." I am started to believe that it is true in this house. Every communication with Reece is very dramatic. I can see how she "REALLY feels that way" about most anything. Eating her yogurt, putting her shoes on, Addie being in her room. The extra added bonus is dramatic as well. When she really does not want to do something, the reply is "NEVER!!!" Me- Reece, can you please put on your shoes so that we can go to school" R- "NEVER!!!" Do you see how my mornings go some days.
I am starting to be concerned that Addison is starting to believe that this is how things are done in the house. She has her first dramatic meltdown this evening. She was finished eating and the rest of us were at the table. She brought me her shoes which meant that she wanted to go outside. And I am sure that she did because Reece had asked 100 times while eating dinner. I told her no, it was too cool and we were still eating dinner. That was not the response that she wanted and she had a full blown meltdown on the ground, crying while laying on her side, next to her shoes. Chad and I couldn't help but giggle just a little. I thought that we had a few more months before we did this whole major meltdown issue. She has done the going limp when we pick her up from doing something she is not suppose to do. That I expected. But I just thought I had a little more time.
If you feel that your life is drama feel, please feel free to email about raising 2 girls. I will let you come over for the day.
