Morning Time

I am NOT a morning person. I don't drink coffee. A glass of ice tea or a DP will do. I need a good 20 minutes before I am ready to talk to anyone. This would include the Queen if she were here too. But I adapt. I jump in the shower to buy 10-15 minutes. I drag my feet brushing my teeth and putting on something.

The problem is that there are some new "things" that have really been starting off my morning with a bang.

  1. Reece is not a morning person either. This leads to #2
  2. She and I fight almost every morning about what she is going to wear. I can hear you Mom. Just pick the clothes out at night. We are starting this again tonight because I JUST CAN NOT TAKE it any more. It's just a really shitty way of starting the day.
  3. I am on week 2 ( 14 days) of not being able to hear out of my left ear. I am on my second around of antibiotics. It just really irritates me to wake up and no improvement.
  4. Addison is a morning person. She wants to talk and color and pack lunches and change clothes and do hair and 93 other things in the morning. I just want to sit for a minute and wake up.
  5. Finally, Addison has taken a liking to MY cereal. There are no less than 8 boxes of cereal in the pantry. One is mine. When I sit down to eat it, she comes over and "shares" the bowl with me. Even if I make her own bowl, she still wants to eat out of mine.

I'm in a funk. It'll change. I know I need sleep. I checked the schedule. It's available next month.

Great for Viewing

We have four TVs.

A computer and a laptop.

But they choose to watch a show on the 2 inch screen of a ipod nano.

On the stairs.

She and I

That would be Addison and I.

We are spending a lot of time together.

She talks all day long. She reminds me a couple people that are related to her. Not naming names.

She is funny and moody. She thinks that I am her servant. I am not. She is not grasping this.

She wants to know how to read soooooo bad.

She likes to wear her nightgown all day. We have gone to school a couple of times to pick up Reece in the afternoon and she is still in her nightgown. I got looks. Just like today when she wore her nightgown to Ikea, Marshalls, and Tuesday Morning. Still getting looks, but I really don't care.

I really do love her but I love Tuesdays and Thursdays too.

She is at Mother's Day Out on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

A little NFL

For the record, I generally do not talk about the NFL on my blog. It's not my thing. I'll host a watching party but I will stay in the kitchen most of the time. So here is my little sports talk.

You see people on TV and know that they are celebrities. They are also real people too. They have kids, soccer practice, dance, and they need to buy gas too. Well, I still get a little giggle every afternoon.

Because Deion Sanders is in the carpool line like the rest of us. Sometimes he sweats it out in the sun with us "walkers". But most of the time he is sitting in that dreaded line. Their one-of-a-kind black conversion van is generally in the front part of the line. You know what that means. He actually left the house early for the pick-up. He's better than most of us out there.

He's just a regular parent like the rest of us, but his part-time gig gets him on TV on the weekends.

College Then and Now

I have noticed several difference in the college world since I last sat in a classroom 10 years ago. That's right folks. I have been out of college for 10 YEARS!!! It feels like yesterday that I was waiting tables and hitting the river in the same day. But the times have changed. Now on to the second half of my life. Here are a few things I wanted to share if you have the urge to go back to school.

  1. Yes - I am one of the older ladies in class. You may be too. I may have hurt the curve but I really like my A in psychology. I'm not sitting in the front, but probably should. That leads to #2.
  2. I have to wear glasses in class. Sitting in front of a computer for over 8 hours a day for the last year and a half has ruined what used to be my perfect vision. I now get headaches and the screen is closer than it should be.
  3. Take notes on the computer is much easier than writing them out. Not that you have to take notes because...#4
  4. Everything is online - all power points, test, extra links. Everything.
  5. I am in need of a geek. I am a little overwhelmed by all of the stuff you have to find and do online for every class. My BIO class this semester is suppose to be face to face but it turns out to be more blended. I had to register the book to get the extra stuff that didn't get printed in the $80 book.
  6. The online stuff is cool. I can chat with other class mates and the teacher. If you missed a day, the notes are there. You don't have to buy them for Notes and Quotes.
  7. EVERYONE is on facebook in class. I am a little guilty but it was a 2 hour class. But literally everyone is on it during the entire class. TAKE A BREAK!
  8. Your grades for online test are posted immediately. And in some cases you get multiple attempts. If you screwed up the first time, just take it again. Nice.

That's all I have for now. I will let you in on more secrets in the upcoming weeks.

Change

Some people like it and others don't. I like it. I think that is is good to try something different. Drive a different direction to work, make something new for dinner, new place to vacation. Anything.

I have not been able to change much the last couple of years. I think I went through so much change for a good period of time. College, move to Dallas, Marriage, house, kid, new job, another kid, move again.

So here I go again. I'm shaking it up. After a nice weekend on the lake, I came back and put my notice in at work. This decision was not made over night. It was a combination of many things. But the change is coming.

More change... I am starting school almost full time in the fall. The girls will have dance, gymnastics, and soccer. We will be a busy group. But like I said, I like change. It keeps you on your toes.
